Kelly Whitaker, Basta, Cart-Driver: Kelly Whitaker returned to Colorado in 2008 with a dream, his own restaurant and a hospitality group made up of serious talent, unleashed first by Kelly and the wood-fired craft he learned in Italy and perfected in Michelin star LA and Hollywood restaurants. His wife, Erika, left her corporate job in the fashion industry and focused her diverse abilities on the restaurant world to help make their dream a reality. Basta means "enough" in Italian which reflects the restaurant's passion for creating magnificent flavors from simple, local, seasonal foods. Erika and Kelly feel that using local and organically grown ingredients as much as possible is essential to the integrity of their food and their business. Chef Kelly makes Colorado's freshest, cleanest ingredients shine using creativity, raw skill and a wicked hot oven. Wood-fired genius paired with wine, beer or a cocktail from an inspired beverage list and delivered with genuine warmth from Basta's family of servers; this the dining experience perfected.
