Biomimicry, a form of life-centered design, multi-disciplinary in nature, with a systems thinking base is focused on creating conditions conducive to all life and brings with it both optimism and an abundance of ideas to help us tackle the challenges of climate change and build greater resilience in our communities as well as create marked innovation. Jo Fleming, founder and principal of Colorado-based, Biomimicry Lab Ltd. will uncover the essential elements of Biomimicry - Emulate, (Re)Connect, Ethos - and share her learnings as a biomimetic designer and educator, talk to recent Biomimetic examples, and uncover how we can become more connected and locally-attuned to the design lessons from nature, including those from the ecosystems and organisms found right here in our own backyard – then start applying those lessons to our systems (including social systems), structures and products.
